Nature and everyday life inspire Mary Lou to paint regardless of landscape or still life.  She is drawn towards scenes that are full of light and color. Her primary goal is to indicate the subject in a representational yet loose style, using color and brush stroke.  She continues to explore different formats to further enhance her painting and she is always striving to challenge herself to grow as an artist.

Mary Lou grew up in New England and has always had a love of art.  She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rosemont College, in Rosemont, Pennsylvania.  During those years, she traveled to Siena, Italy, to further her studies in art. After a fulltime career and raising her children, she has transitioned back to her passion for art and paints full time. Oil is her primary medium of choice as she enjoys the flexibility and richness of color that it offers. She also enjoys pastels and watercolors as well.

Her work has been juried into various art shows, including Malvern Retreat House, Historic Yellow Springs, Academy of Notre Dame and various exhibits through Delaware Valley Art League. She has also exhibited in the shows of Daylesford Abbey, St. Francis in the Fields and Land Arts Events.

Mary Lou is currently a member of the Chester County Art Association, Wayne Art Center, and Delaware Valley Art League, where she has received several awards. She has taken workshops with local and nationally known artists as well as various classes at Chester County Art Association, Wayne Art Center and Main Line Art Center. She also loves to paint plein air, which offers endless opportunities to explore nature.
